Throttle alignment problem

Featured Replies

Following a recent remap on my Octavia I have had an intermittent but persistent problem of loosing the throttle allignment i.e the boost reverts to that of the pre re-map. Reatarting the engine resets the allignment but is an inconvenient and temporary solution. I have returned to the supplier to have a throttle body clean and reallignment which usually solves the problem, but this has unfortunatley failed in my case.

Does anyone have any experience of this and a possible solution please.

You need to be looking at other areas too, not just the throttle body. I would suggest removing and cleaning the MAF on a regular basis (every 3000 miles) as these can cause low boost. Clean the throttle body out yourself paying particular attention to where the butterfly sits as dirt and carp around there shows up as a pressure difference and cuts boost.

Are you getting error codes logged at all?

To re-align the throttle body, I thought you disconnect the battery for a half an or so, rather than the ignition?

Are you sure this is a throttle alignment issue and not the 17705 boost loss problem???

Thats an overboost not a throttle body alignement issue, cycling the ignition just resets the failsafe.

Disconnecting the battery clears the throttle body settings, for them to be set properly again requires diagnostics. First part of the readiness code check is TB alignment.

Cheers all,

I was told that the MAF wouldn't cause this problem and there were no error codes for this at re-map. The throttle body was actually taken off to be cleaned, twice, so i'm pretty sure that it is clean now.

17705 boost loss problem? Not sure what this is but again no error codes when I returned to have the second unit clean and VAG-COM re-allignment done. Unless this code only appears when boost has been lost?

Disconnecting the battery has not been suggested before so this may be worth a try.

Does sound like a boost loss though.

i get this two, loss of boost, ignition on off cycle resets it then back to normal, i do get the 17705 fault code aswell though, just annoying really, changed the intercooler pipe to the moddified version, and still the same, need to try the other couple of things really,
