vRS Turbo lifespan?

Featured Replies

How long can you expect an Octavia vRS KO3S turbo charger to live for before requiring attention?

My car passed 100,000 miles this weekend (Jabba'd from 35k) and whilst it still goes really well (i'm not aware of any problems), it got me wondering if there was an expected life of the turbo and whether I should be thinking about having it checked over/re-built?

Who would you go to to have it looked over?

Depends on how you drive it.

Regular oil changes and being sympathetic by letting it warm up and cool down and I can't see any real reason for problems.

Turbo specialists are allards, however there may be other too.

Did you know a Warranty Direct Gold warrenty covers turbo failure inc wear and tear and consequential damage, although you have to pay some of the parts cost over 60k miles ;)

I'm on 110k and just had it replaced. there was nothing that I noticed, but a heavy oil leak on the MOT turned out to be the turbo. Was advised to replace it before it blew.

For anyone panicking I have a ko3 in the garage, did about 55000 miles before I fitted the IHI

The cars on variable servicing and is always serviced when the light comes on by Skoda.

I'm quite careful about letting the car warm up and cool down after a long run too.

Can't hurt to have it looked over if you have the cash to do so.

Certainly a failure won't be good and variable servicing opens a huge debate I'm not even going to get into here.
