Octavia estate water leak

Featured Replies

Any ideas??? I have searched the posts and cant find an exact answer. I have been driving round with a swimming pool under my cd changer....(which it has killed). I have reconnect the pipe for the rear wiper spray however this hasnt cured it, I have taken all the trim away including the c pillar trim and when I pour water on the passenger rear quater its leaks in through the roof and down the c pillar.....great!

I am thinking it could be coming in from the where the tailgate hinges join the taligate to the car as water seems to sit in here. Anyone else successfully solved this problem?

thanks

If the leak's down the C-post, I'd think it's one of the door seal, the window frame being bent at the top, the fixed door light or the fixed light over the load bay leaking, with an outside chance that the leak is actually through the rear sunroof drain (if applicable).

It leaks by the rear tailgate (is that the c pillar?) and have checked by pouring water on the very rear corner of the car, so have eliminated the sunroof as the car leaks when no water is near the sunroof.....unless it leaks from there too!

fixed!!:)

It was the last roof rail screw that was loose and not tight enough, phew!

Okeley dokeley.

BTW the tailgate one is the D-post on the estate, but you had me thinking it was the one at the back of the rear passenger door.

Ah that would explain your first post, thanks for letting me know Ken, doh:rolleyes:

Just out of interest, how do you get to the roof rail screws? It is a case of removing the headlining?

AFAICS there are removable covers on the insides of the rail posts.

I had a similar leak on mine which seams to of 'fixed' it self. I'll check these screws.

Lift your CD changer out and leave it in the house for a week, should be fine.

wish i had checked the screws 1st before taking out half the interior (you can see where they bolt into a plate at the back of the headlining once you take away the back roof trim) however couldnt tell where the water was coming from till i took it all apart, plus needed to check it was the only source of the leak. Have taken the cd changer out fingers crossed jon.
