Fitted my new alloys today

Featured Replies

Finally got the new wheels fitted today.

Gave them a couple of coats of wheel sealant, then got the car jacked up, first wheel off and found out I had no copperslip left so had to cycle down to the car accessories shop for some more.

Had a nightmare close call when fitting number 2 - went into auto pilot, drove the wheel onto a small slab (to get clearance for trolley jack underneath), lossened the wheelnuts, removed nuts, gave the wheel a kick to break the seal with the brake disc and CRASH - the car came down onto the old wheel - arch sitting on the tyre, brake disc sitting on the inside edge of the rim....I then looked at the pavement and saw my jack sitting there!!! forgot to jack the bloody thing up :(

Got away with it - no creasing to the wheelarch, and everything else looks ok, car drives true, no wobbles and stable at motorway speeds and when breaking.

I'll keep an eye on tyrewear in case I have put something out a bt, but I am hoping that as it was the rear of the car no damage was done (the old tyre was not cut, and the old rim was not scored/marked so the drop down must have been not too vicious).

Add that to the list of mishaps when working on cars!

Anyway, here are a couple of photos - I should be getting my black wheelnut covers this week, stroke of luck the centre badge from my old alloys sits nicely on the new S3 rims I will get nice new shiny ones sometime but they will do for the timebeing.

Running the 225s against the old 205s makes a huge difference, and the wheels are just flush with the outside edge of the car :lol:

Adds just the right look the yellow vRS needs - looking ACE

Look good mate :thumbup::cool:

Still prefer them with the cap over the centre, but I found no way of removing the Audi badge and replacing with Skoda ones, when I had these on my Fabia...

very nice!!:cool:

Me like.

Looks spanking!!

Very, very nice. Goes really well against the yellow, though I have always liked dark wheels.

They do look great on the Octy!

Theres a set of 5x100's on ebay at the moment, only hours left and currently at

Good job Andy - think the cap on the Avus-II may be slightly different. Could be wrong though...
