Oil into the stock IC & Pipes???

Featured Replies

....

Im installing a custom FMIC & Pipes to replace the stock one....

When the engineer disassebled the pipes he noticed that ...OIL was all over the pipes, etc....

The same happened when i was installing the Autospeed water mister with the larger water tanks, etc.

I removed the intake pipe from stock IC to throttle body and noticed myself the oil in the Intake pipe and IC outlet (I removed it whith a cloth).

WHAT IS HAPPENING???

I there a possibility that the turbo links spit oil into the cold part ???

When i installed the Samco TIP i didn;t noticed any oil at all into the stock TIP or MAF or filter element, etc.....

Tavia save meeeee :rolleyes::D

turbo engines use oil.. cos it goes round the intake system....

mine and jons were both the same when changing pipes/ IC's

:D

dont panic.

Loukas,

How much oil is there?

You should expect find some oil depending on the age of the car - when I disconnected my standard IC inlet, the inside of the rubber pipe was wet with oil. The pipes down to the IC are at the lowest point on the engine, so this is where the oil will collect. You may be getting a small amount of oil escaping from the turbo bearing, but the engine crankcase breather pipes will contain oily fumes which can run down to the IC.

I would only get worried if there is a lot of oil present.

The same is ture at the turbo end of the intake pipe which I changed t'other week. Bear in mind various threads around the place regarding oil feed to the turbo bearings and not cooking the turbo before turning the engine off - some of this oil surely gets sucked up by the forced air induction. I'd be concerned if your exhaust is emitting blue smoke - right chaps, but I assume it is not...

No there isnt A LOT of oil in there....

When the stock IC was removed i turned it upside down and some drops appeared (lets say about 10 cc) .

Actually you can wipe it with your finger (the pipe connections accumulate some oil mostly).

The car has only 18K Km with only 8K Km chipped.

It works fine correct boost, power, no errors (Vag-Com checked) so i think you are right on this.....

Thanks anyway guys,

Normal.

Oil is in there from the breather system... Emissions req'd.

Unlikely to be from turbo seals, unless its smoking badly..

It is usually this oil which gets blown about by the DV and can coat the MAF...
