Roomster interior in new Fabia?

Featured Replies

There's some other threads on here about the Roomster and people having one as a courtesy car - I'm driving one today while the vRS's wheel bearing is fixed.

I seriously hope Skoda won't use the interior from this in the new Fabia (but think they are). I've wacked my knee three times on the corner where the stereo is already. What an ergonomic c*ck-up!

And the stereo is a let down, can't have different bass/treble settings for CD/FM/AM/travel announcments unlike the one fitted to the Fabia - this an excellent feature :thumbdwn:

All the pictures I have seen show the Fabia with the Roomster interior.

Stereo, same problem with Octavia Stream and Audience. One set of sound setup.

Pics of said offending corner - ouch :(

Whats the seating position like, how long are your legs in relation to your arms. Maybe adjust the steering wheel position and move the seat back some more, or lower it slightly.

Agreed. This is the worst part about the Roomster to me.

The dash feels close to your legs but a long way from your arms. From the front passenger seat anyway.

I found the seating position nice and upright and I have to be honest I didn't notice my knee was banging at all. Good visability allround but I did find the seats in the Roomster 1 very unsupportive although the acid test would be a 4 hour trip in it.

Have you noticed the radio says "DANCE" on it? Is this the model or an instruction ?????

I couldnt stand the interior of the Roomster when I sat in one, it looks like Skoda have taken steps backwards when designing it and things just dont seem "right" in there. :(

Short legs long body me. Tried fiddling about but couldn't get comfy, still caught my knee on it. Shame. Oh well. Told the garage, might send the pics off to Skoda.

Agree with maffwilson. I had a loan Roomster for 3 weeks. Handed it back suffering from a sore left kneecap. Really is uncomfortable and you notice it on long drives after a while.

When I test drove a Roomster I did notice this, but I presume using a comination of seat position and steering wheel position changes I could have eliminated it.

The dashboard is the same in the new Fabia, but the rest of the interior is not identical. It could be that the overall seating position in the new Fabia is different and it does not suffer from this problem. Not seen any of the reviews on the new car complaining about this.

As far as the rest of the Roomster interior goes, there is a noticeable difference in ambience between the bottom end and top end Roomsters. I sat in a Roomster 3 and really liked this with the nice bright upholstery, good quality fabric and nice leather bits. Not so keen on the seat trim on the Roomster 1&2 though. It also looks good with the Sport interior, but that is not available in the UK (yet)

Sat in in the TDI version at the dealer's showroon on Saturday, it feels cheap and the rear looks like its miles away in the rear mirror. Dont like the front of it too and guess Im not having the MK2 Fab if this the same too. :(

I think the interior quality is far better than that of the current Fabia, the fit and finnish on the Roomster is better than what my Fabia is. Lets hope the quality carries over to the Mk II.

If there is a problem with the knee area, I think it's here to stay. I can't see them changing the interior of the Roomster now, and they won't build 2 different fronts for the 2 cars, it's down to cost at the end of the day.

Think the radio may be a problem if it doesn't have the same functions as the current ones, it's good to be able to change the settings.

Nice Slacks!

Regarding the upholstery,

The spec would be fabia 2 1.4 TDI PD Highland green

with the stone red upholstery.

I used the flash site and put in the colours and it looked smart.

Now according to Skoda UK the choice is Grey or blue wave,

not my cup of tea..

I want red!

petel

Mmm, two tone. I've got the beige/black interior in my Octy Mk1 and I don't think I could have anything else. Black/gray is just too drab but beige really lightens the interior up nicely (ooh, beige, how old do I sound! )

In the picture on the 'Upholstery' selector on the website, spec-1 only has a single-DIN stereo, thus making it stick out less. But on the equipment page, it says all specs come with the double-DIN Dance unit. Oh well. Maybe that's a European thing. I wonder if they'll put the MFD2 in there as an option?

On the whole I think the new Fabia looks quite smart. I'd be interested in a test drive, with a mind to picking up one of the earliest examples in a years time or so.
