Octavia 1.8T Clutch and Flywheel Died :((

Featured Replies

Hi fellas... i REALLY need help... I have a Octavia Tour 1.8T with 22.000km (that's 12.000 miles only) bought on 11/2005 , engine code AUM, 150 HP. A couple of days ago, my clutch - pressure plate and flywheel died. All of them. And the warranty doesn't cover them, so i have to buy new ones - only there is only one "small" problem. The guys at the service said my clutch disc is 225mm, and gave me the code on the flywheel: 06A 105 264 M. So, i've done some digging and found out it's a Luk DMF with Clutch and Plate attached. As i don't want this to happen AGAIN, i decided to buy an Uprated Kit, only this time i want a Single Mass Flywheel so i can enjoy driving again. Now, i'm not sure what kit would fit in my gearbox as i've found only 228mm / G60? and as i said before, mine were 225mm, wouldn't want to buy them and not fit in. Please give me some advice and tell me what does this G60 Conversion imply - do i need other parts/mods ? If anyone has replaced these parts, any info would be more than welcome. Thank you, a VERY dissapointed fan of Skoda.

are you still under the manufacturer warrnty its three years in the uk what is it in romania

Yes, i am under warranty (it's 2 years - so mine's up to november 2007), but as they have explained me, the clutch is not covered by warranty so, neither is the flywheel as it is linked to the clutch. Because i drove the car quite sporty (as i did , for bout 1/4 of the time as it eats Gas like an EVO), they said it's my fault only and i have "missused the car - drove not properlly". The bill for the repair, actually for the replacement of the above parts is around 1200 euros - with original crappy stock parts. Excuse me, but for this amount of money i can buy not ONE but TWO decent sport kits (both clutch kit + flywheel). PS: before this Octy 1.8T i had a DACIA SOLENZA - the predecessor of the DACIA LOGAN / Renault LOGAN and that one i drove for about 24000 miles and trust me, i squeezed the soul out of that poor car and none of the transmision components have failed me - except a brake pad that i managed to brake in half ;) fact is: that car cost me 6000 euros full option , not 17.500 euros like this Octy. Still guys, please help me and give me some advice

Anyone ? No ideeas ?

I had a G60 clutch & flywheel fitted to my 2002 1.8T by Jabbasport, it was acouple of years ago but I seem to remember they replaced the flywheel bolts as well or something like that, I think its a case of they dont cost a lot & should really only be torqued up once, cheap to replace with the car in bits but catastrophic if they fail with the car running. It handled 225 bhp no problem

If you get really desperate drop Jabba an e-mail & they might help you out with some advice, they are a friendly bunch Jabba Sport - Motor Sport

I can't help wrt an uprated clutch, but IMO there is no way the flywheel should fail at that mileage.

Had what I believe is a Spanish Diesel one from Jabba put on my 4x4 and its been ok - but does feel different

Hi, sorry I'm not a techy so not sure if this is any help, but just found out Valeo do a 4 piece clutch kit to replace DMFs. They reckon the new kit is cheaper and more durable than the DMF. Not sure of details but here's where I found it...

York Motor Factors - Supplying all Parts Automotive throughout York, Scarborough and Malton

Let me know if anyone has experience of them, I'll probably need one in my Mondeo soon!

have you tried Jabba Sport - Motor Sport

I still wouldn't accept that the flywheel would fail at 12k.

IMHO flywheels should last the life of the car or at least a good 60k+.

I agree ! I have my clutch kit chnaged at 80.000km. As for the flywheel, it is odd it failed. But the case of nrgon is real and we must find out if it is case to be covered by factory warranty...
