Uneven tyre wear

Featured Replies

I have a May 06 Ovtavia Sport TDi. I think it is a great car, but in the 28000 miles I have done it has eatten the inside 2cm of all tyres. This problem is particularly pronounced on the fronts with 4 sets of tyres having been fitted as of Monday.

The car has had 3 geometry checks all concluding the variables are within expected ranges.

This is the first time my dealer has heard of this as a problem.

Has anybody also got this wear?

Mine had the same problem, the "REAR" wheels on mine needed re tracking and solved the problem. Not many cars need the rear wheels re-tracking and my skoda dealer was suprised when they found out the rear wheels could be tracked, it might be something to do with it being a sport model as these have differant suspension to the elegance and ect.

This is the problem I am getting now on the driver's side front tyre of my Octavia Elegance with Sports Suspension. I wonder if the garage set it up with tracking settings for the standard supspension. I would really like to know if anyone knows the required settings for the tracking?

I posted on this on 10 Sept 07 under the heading "Flats on inside edge of tyres".

In 40 years of driving this is the first time any such problem has hit me--and cars I've had a few !!

The new so far excellent Michelins are not showing any signs of damage but they have not been on long enough.

This seems to me to be the start of a definite pattern. Maybe Skoda will slowly get round to looking at it. Since the chassis is shared with (is it) 3 other VAG cars maybe they should make looking into it a priority.
