Hi Everyone

I am considering buying an Octavia 2.00 Hatchback. I have looked at a few and searched extensively on line. I have also read the very good reviews on "What Car" web site. I have also found that the price guides for other makes of car to be very informative on the "What Car" site, however when looking at the costs of an Octavia all the actual asking prices seem to be much higher than the "What Car" online and book prices. The WC guide prices also seem to be much lower than the WCar guides were giving last year for similar age cars? I think I am of the opinion the WCar have got their guide prices wrong. What are other persons's views?

It would seem to me that if you've done a lot of searching then you've probably got a good idea of prices. The magazine price can be taken with a pinch of salt IMHO, it's the market that dictates the prices.

I would have a good look at Autotrader online using the national search and guage for yourself what seems to be an average price.

I think What Car must have their guide prices wrong. The guide prices in my March 2007 copy seem to bear no relation to their guide prices in Feb 2006 adjusting for year etc. Someone probably didn't do their sums right before going to print. Would

Just saying Hello for a second time. I missed the car I was after last week but just found a 2002 Octavia today. Picking it up next week so now feel as if I will soon be a fully fledged Octy owner. Silver, my almost least favourite colour, and my ex-car-dealer - ex-husband said it is "right" so hope he is right also. [We are on good terms so no worries there! ] As a silver-surfer the colour should suit really. Immaculate car so awaiting collection eagerly. Love the site, and have found it very helpful.
