Traction control / ESP / ABS warnings

Featured Replies

Another niggly fault which doesn't really concern me but would be nice to get sorted is that sometimes the traction control, ABS and ESP warning lights come on on the dashboard and the systems are deactivated yet other times they will be functioning fine.

Given the reoccuring nature of the problem and how it seems to 'fix' itself I am of the opinion it could be a simple wiring issue or a dodgy sensor of some sort.

This is on a 2001 Octavia 4x4

Anyone have any thoughts or suffered the same fault?

Many thanks,

Sam

Find someone local with VAG-COM (unless you want to buy it yourself) to see what fault codes this is throwing up.

Could be just a sensor like you said, but scanning the ECU should tell you for sure.

I was having the same problem on my 4x4, it turned out to be cured when I changed my brake light switch. It was putting up intermitant fault.

i have the same fault and have done for the past 12 months, on my car the fault is one of the esp sensors. trouble is it costs £500 so i am loathe to just buy one and fit it incase it doesn't fix it.

Happend to me once after coasting round a fast corner. The car went in to "limp" mode, I made it to the hard sholder, swiched off and waited a few seconds, switched on again and all was fine!

Not happened since ,,,,, fingers crossed.

You really need someone with VagCom to check this fault. I'm having the same problem, and my vagcom says i'm having and intermitent "ABS pump circuit fault". I get this code at least once a week, then it clears by itself.:(
