Bengies 1986 Mazda 323 GTX

Featured Replies

everyone, i'd like to introduce Mavis :)

she's a funny little thing but great fun if you treat her right :)

she is a 1986 D reg Mazda 323 GTX which is an AWD 1.6i 16v DOHC turbo with variable inlet manifold running 150bhp and 148lbft as standard through a 5 speed full time AWD transmission with a slight reaer bias. i bought her last year and took a while to get her on the road due to the amount of work she needed and the time/money i had available.

since buying her last may i have had about £500 worth of welding done, new rear dampers, new discs and pads allround, new radiator and cleaned out and rust treated the rear half of the cabin.

the only playing around i have done with her so far is shown in these pictures which is(only done today so haven't driven it yet) heat wrapped the entire exhaust, heat shielded the ionlet pipes and basically given the interior a darn good cleaning :)

i did have some exterior shots but seem to have lost them, i'll take some more and upload them soon, please comment good or bad as i would like to get an honest reception to Mavis :)

Sorry i forgot to mention my technical advisor and temporary keeper the ross-a-tron :)

as i said before aaron no external shots as i seen to have lost them and didn't have time earlier to take new ones, i'll try and take some tomorrow and get them up. She needs some body work later after she is running perfectly. :)

my dad had a 323, it was light blue :)

The BF 323 is a classic and I loved giving her some grief, not such a clever idea when we found out what welding needed doing.

Looks like a good fun car mate... something to tinker with atleast. :)

Its got the loudest damn dump valve i've ever heard.

Great car, always been very under rated IMO.

I've had two in the past and the only things that i ever had problems with where the rear shocks,

Good luck with the project and i for one will be following "MAVIS" back to her former glory....

I learnt how to drive in a 323F, cracking car although it got a tad light at higher speeds :D

The 323F is a BG (with the pop up lights) that is the shape after Mavis.

It sure is ;) - used to get a lift with a guy who had the slightly older model, dunno what engine that had but it wasnt this tuned ;) petrol though :)
