Cruise in 1999?

Featured Replies

I really want to retro fit cruise control to my Sept 1999 SLX TDI est but am wondering if it is as straight forward as the later cars? I know that a 110TDI of this vintage cannot be remapped OBD style and this has got me wondering about any other electrical differences, such as the presence of the necessary cruise control loom. When did cruise become an dealer option on the 110 TDI and has anyone successfully fitted it to an Octy this old?

AFAIK if your car is DBW (Drive By Wire) then it should be ok.

All Octavia diesels are DBW so yes providing the engine ECU takes the login code its game on.

On the basis of that i'm definately going to get it fitted. Do I need an additional loom other than the one that is actually attached to the new stalk? I know its a long shot but has anyone had cruise fitted in East Scotland? I'm thinking of having a chat to Star performance or possibly stopping of at Awesome next time I drive down to Cornwall.

also try Lummox, Big K & Vrs Stu, all could possibly help you for a few squid less

It is possible to fit it yourself, with various guides avaialbe (Cruise Control is for the Golf, but it's the same apart from a few screws in different places for the trim removal)

I did it on my 2001 tdi a while back, took me about 4 hrs (being very maticulous and reading everything 3 times!)

Where abouts in East Scotland are you?

Edit - Just realised you are in Aberdeen!

I'm going to order all of the bits when i get back from my current work installment and have been looking on the VAG parts site.....I understand (possibly incorrectly!) that is is a case of choosing the style of stalk that you prefer (8L0 or 1J0), but which loom bits do you need and do they change depending on the stalk you go for?! Any oppinions on the user friendliness of either stalk would be welcome:cool:

Give me a PM and i can tell you how to get Verve VW in wishaw to fit it for you for £150 ;)

Mark,

Have sent u a PM
