Tyre wear on VRs MKII

Featured Replies

Hello!

Had my new front tyres fitted this afternoon (I plumped for the Falkens in the end) and the guy from Event Tyres pointed out that my tracking was a bit shot because the inside was worn "down to the core" in several places. This seems pretty bad!

I've picked up a few threads talking about dodgy steering racks on here, does this relate to the VRs??? I must admit I haven't heard anything about this, and a quick search doesn't give me any details... Has anyone got any extra info??

When I had the motor serviced last week I asked them to check the tracking and they said that my tyres just needed replacing, which to be fair they clearly did. This makes we wonder if they didn't actually check the tracking at all!

Thoughts greatfully appreciated!

Cheers,

Ben

The steering rack issue relates to all in the range but only certain build dates.

It's not normally an issue WRT tyre wear but more a grinding noise on full lock.

Aaahhh cool, no grinding noise so I'm going to assume everything is ok with the steerging then! Looks like I'll have to double check with the garage about the tracking.

Cheers Stu!
