Veyron crash UK

Featured Replies

I reckon it's a 'write off' ;) :P

Wonder if the local 'Insurance Approved' garage will be doing the work?

:repost:

Think I'll make them an offer of

if you can afford £800,000 for a car then i suppose you can afford to have it fixed right??

I'd hope so, not too many times I'd imagine though

Isn't the Veyron equipped with the unflappable ESP? Or are we saying that driver skill is still important in this day and age? ;)

:iagree: it was probably caused by VAG's very special asr function :sofahide:

didnt lock the airfoil down with the special key :) result as seen.

It said on telly (or radio, I forget) that it's being regarded as a write-off and that, given it's an £840,000 car, it makes you wonder how the parts and labour costs add up to come close to that!

Got to agree that's an interesting question methinks. :rubchin:

Edit: Assuming they got it right and it is being written off I guess.

Most "average" cars are built with repairs in mind. Even the Lotus Elise design was changed subtly to make repairs easier and reduce the insurance burden on owners. I doubt very much if the Veyron has been designed in this way, more like a race car with a one-shot chassis.

Nope, it was just another VAG designed in phenomenum

To be honest, given how closely related the Veyron is to the Fabia, I'm amazed it diddnt end up on it's roof.

Thanks for the heads up Goochie. I was thinking of buying one, but I ain't now ;) I'd be much better off buying one of those welded together ones that TG use :D

Seriously though, ta; I knew there must be some sort of reasoning - it was just beyond my comprehension, even as a car expert, as to what it might be.

I see the driver has now been charged with driving without due care and attention

Driver with serious ££££ + 1001Hp = Charged with wreckless driving. This guy will be the talk of the country club, probably one of the gentleman in charge of the Labour Party Fund Raising.

Are you able to read the link that Glider put up in Post #1? It says he aquaplaned and lost control from going too fast allegedly. They said on the early news that he was being charged and it's a miracle that apparently neither driver (nor passengers) were seriously hurt :)

Its unfortunate for him that he was driving the car he was, In the great tradition of our contries legal system in the last few years the "establishment" will make an example of him as a deterent to others.

I will add I in no way condone whatever he did, its just that he will probably have him marital kit removed by the judge wheras were it a scroaty ch*av in a nova hed be fined £50 & given 2 years to pay

I wonder what the excess will be for the claim??

Have you seen the Sun's article about it?

The Sun Online - News: Bugatti supercar is left a wreck

Ignoring the poor grammar and terrible (IMHO) writing style, they reckon the owner paid GPB925,000 for it and hired it out for 20 grand a day to the muppet who crashed it.

They also reckon it has "almost as much power as an F1 car"

Muppets.

Don't forget that these things cost around 5 million to build so a repair could cost more than the list price.
