My estelle is dead!

Featured Replies

The engine on my estelle 120 wont turn over properly anymore. I have charged 2 batteries and tried them both and it doesnt make any difference. If i bump start it, it runs fine but if I stall or turn off the engine I have to bump it again to get it going. Also there is transmission fluid leaking into my rear drums.

I think I need a new starter motor and new seals on the half axels.

If anyone can help I would be VERY gratefull. Thanks.

Where do you live?

It appears the starter motor has failed. Does it click when you turn the key, or groan as if it's trying to turn the egine over? Check the earth strap on the right hand engine mount under the alternator.

I live in Upper Beeding, west sussex. I took the motor out last night and rebuilt it then refitted it this morning and it turns over slowly. What does the earth stap look like (being inexperienced in the world of skodas!)?

I found the earth strap and removed it. Then realised that it was holding the engine in place.(idiot!) Anyway i jacked the mount up a bit after cleaning up the strap then refitted it. The motor turns over but not particularly quickly. I bump started the car and now it appears to be running ok and does re-start but I am not sure that it will start again from cold tomorrow morning:(

We shall see.

Thanks for your help.
