vrs service leeway??

Featured Replies

hi, not the usual question re oil change v. annual service...

my vrs is coming up to needing it's 30k service.

does anyone know what the leeway is to not loose the warranty milage wise,

eg 100, 200, 500 miles over 10k since the last service?

no probs with time as only 5 months since last inspection/annual service

i can't seem to find a figure in the manual on using search.

cheers matt

No idea I'm affriad, but to err on the side of caution i would try and book it in do get it done before you hit 10k miles.

On the plus side I like the 205 with the rear wheel lift off in your avatar :)

I've been over by 2-4k but that was due to the fact the dealer could not get me a courtesy car, so it didnt impact warranty (according to them at least...)

That said try to stay near 10k if possible, less chance of problems that way, also when trying to sell the vehicle at some stage..

I've been over 1k and had no bother. Sure it depends on the dealer though.

thanks,

the 205 is for fun/trackdays :D and the vrs for everyday :)

matt.

It really must be in consultation with your dealer but I am sure a figure of around 1k miles would be acceptable.

Yep, my mate's the service manager in Newport and he reckons on 1k being ok. Do check with your local dealer though.

I've always been led to believe 1k is permissible (Ford actually state this in the handbook I think), but remember that, come resale time, you might make alarm bells ring if the potential buyer for your car sees it hasn't been serviced on or before the specified intervals :D

Never seen/noticed one in the service book, but the insurance backed one i've got stipulates 30 days or 1k. (Thought when i got mine that the service was like VW =15K, )and now find that i've lost warranty ,hopefuly on just on mech bits which is covered by insurance based one.

I actually asked my dealer this question when the service indicator failed to indicate and they said 750 miles.
