Whay are there wires.....

Featured Replies

....into my seats in the car?

Looks like electrical wires into the front passenger seats of my car. Noticed them god knows how many times, but kept forgetting to post.

They are plugged into something as there is some kind of plug connector between the seats, and the floor pan.

Why are they there?

BTW - My car does not have heated seats, before anyone asks. If it does, then please tell me how to activate it, cause leather is a sod in winter!

Ive also wondered about this.

Could they be sensors for the seat belt warning lights perhaps?

Side Airbags

Pretensioners.

I know the furthest left is for the seat belt warning chime. I have mine disconnected at the moment.

pretensioners are in the seatbelt units behind the trim over the B pillar. So it can't be that. I will hedge my bets on the seatbelt undone warning light. Somehow it has no know the seatbelt is undone when the ignition is turned on.

Passenger seat doesnt have seat belt warning light.. bet you its the side airbags!

Side airbag if its a yellow plug, anything else will be either seat controls, heated seat pads or seat belt warning.

Pretty sure A5's do. I know if you sit in the passenger side of a MK5 Golf and dont put your belt on the warning comes up and chimes, pretty sure Skodas are the same.

Stand corrected

That seatbelt chime is sooooo annoying on MKVs if your just moving cars around.

If you have these in your car they are the wheels to control your heated seats, one either side of sat-nav and the rear one in pic.

I thought so, but the MK5 GT TDI warns about the front passenger while the Octy II does not. Seems a bit tight but hey ho.

I'm on a combination of warning and side airbags for driver and airbags for passenger side.
