The procedure for resetting the service interval display is on Page 64 of the Owner's Manual. Using that procedure resets the car for fixed servicing if previously on variable.

I seem to have the same problem on a 2003 Octavia Vrs (60,000 miles), and the mechanics don't seem to have any real idea how to fix it.

The car started misfiring when cold, all right when warm. First Skoda dealer says "no fault found".

Then ASR light stated coming on occasionally, stays on till ignition switched off. Engine still misfires when cold. Second Skoda dealer says "no fault found" for ASR, changes air mass flow meter/ sensor.

After a few thousand miles, the engine management comes on and stays on (needless to say the ASR light still comes on occasionally).

Three visits to a German (and Bosch) car specialist follow:

First visit. The air mass sensor code has been logged on computer but no fault found. Light reset. Comes back on within a week

Second visit. The air mass sensor code has been logged again, air mass flow meter/ sensor changed for a second time (getting expensive...). Engine management light back on within 48 hours, but cold running is improved. ASR light still coming on!

Third visit. A short on the brake switch has been found. Switch replaced, engine management light reset.

The engine management light was back on within 24 hours. The misfire when cold is back and getting worse. A week later the ASR light started coming back on, though less often.

The mechanic says he has spent lots of time with the Bosch technical help people, everyone baffled, car still SNAFU.

Now waiting for some bigger and better diagnostic equipment at the garage, but not really hopeful Any thoughts anyone? Judging from th emessages on this site, it looks as though this is a common fault on these cars.

Thanks

Tell your tech to check for fuel trim issue in measured value block 32 and try and get the fault code to post on site as well as values in measured block 32 it sounds like fuel trim to lean as the values are being calculated as you drive over long term and they are out hence mil light on.ASR IS COMMING ON AS THE ABS CONTROL UNIT ALSO STORE FAULTS IF ENGINE MANAGEMENT DOES SO I WOULD IGNORE THAT AS A SEPERATE ISSUE AND RECTIFY THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT FAULT,IF THEY HAD LOOKED IN 32 THEY WOUD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE THE AIR MASS CALCULATIONS RELATION TO THE FAULT IN QUESTION.

Hi,

Have a 2001 Octy vRS and have the same issue:( . They had a number of fault codes for the problem and started off by replacing the fuel cut-off valve. Needless to say the fault wasn't rectified after becoming

I have a Fabia 1.4 16v. I am of the opinion the engine management light is supposed to be on all the time! I have done 76k and expect things to wear out but.... All the usual Fabia faults I have had or have. Now in the last 20k I have had :- New egr valve, Exhaust lambda probe, temp sender and this week another new EGR valve. I had been having the symptoms of some surging at idle, pinking and using oil. and the magic light came on, and went off, and came on again. The garage sorted the EGR valve. next day on came the light. they cleaned out some tubes somewhere and drove it round a lot and all was ok until I drove it and the light came on. The car is fine it drives well and only pinks a bit. The light 'meter' always says unspecified fault!!! Skoda never could fix it and were not interested. Is it possible to physically remove this light which I suppose is an led? If the car was really sick something would show up in the old fashioned way and get fixed likewise.

just watch what you are doing,i had just engine management light on last week ,was told the cambelt sensor was faulty,2 days later had a engine failure.

I had this prob changed the maf reset ecu and all was good and has been since dunno why maf brings on traction light

iirc It's to do with the control of wheelspin, ecu can't calculate power properly without MAF being in working order. So it knocks off ASR(traction) so you don't end up in a tree or something.

p.s. I may have dreamt this
