Octavia mark II - OEM head unit conversion package

Featured Replies

Having read most of the threads on here regarding changing the standard car stereo in my Octavia mark II, I have ordered an OEM head unit conversion package from Skoda rather than get all the individual bits from Autoleads.

The package apparently comes with an ISO adapter (but not CAN-BUS), an aerial amplification adapter and the fascia adapter needed to replace and house the twin-DIN sized gap for the current stereo. I've fit car stereos before so I presume this should be pretty straight forward (once I've picked up my head unit) .

Can anybody confirm what I will miss by not having the CAN-BUS adapter? I don't have steering wheel controls and neither am I bothered whether the head unit is powered from the ignition/headlight switches. I'd prefer it not to be.

I assume that the Skoda 6-CD changer will now be redundant so I guess I'd like to know how easy it is to remove the changer and control cable so I can replace it with one from the head unit manufacturer I opt for.

You guys must get bored of answering these questions but if I promise to post pictures of it all once it's done, will that help?

I've not used one of the kit's myself so I can't comment too much.

IMHO it wouldn't be worth removing the cabling for the OEM changer and TBH I wouldn't remove the OEM changer either, it'll do you no harm where it is.

For those of you who haven't seen this package (not that this thread is busy), I picked up the set of parts yesterday and am quite please with it. For

Go into your control panel and scroll down, bottom left IIRC.

Brilliant, thanks VRStu!

Here are the images of the Skoda OEM head unit conversion package.

Not a bad bit of kit for the money that.

Hi.

Regular lurker here since taking delivery of a Elegance Combi 2.0FSI in July, so many thanks to all in the forum who have (inadvertantly) answered my so-far un-voiced questions and provided a lot of other useful information!

I have finally been driven to posting to seek an answer to the following, sincce the local Skoda franchise are unable to catagorically do so.

I am considering pulling out the Stream CD player and fitting an aftermarket unit using the single DIN adapter mentioned here and elsewhere but would be grateful if anyone could advise whether in doing so, I will lose the audible rear parking sensor beeps (obviously the graphics will go). The dealership seens to think the sound is routed through the Stream, but if it isn't there will the replacement (DIN) unit transfer the beeps to the speakers?

As a supplementary, can I expect an aftermarket unit to operate when the ignition key is in, but without the engine running?

Many thanks,

Steve

You shouldn't lose the beeps but you will, as you know, lose the display.
