Fabia Saloon

Featured Replies

I'm new!

Does anyone else drive the saloon version? I have never seen another one on the road!

I test drove the hatchback, but the boot was just a little too small. In the UK the saloon comes in one spec, so after a bit of research I bought one sourced from abroad in Comfort trim, with an 8v engine.

Hello!

I must admit i've only ever seen a couple of Fabia saloons on the roads.

Its a shame that the range is so limited on the saloon version - with no Tdi engine option either!

Did you save much money by sourcing the car abroad?

Any modifications planned yet? (e.g stereo upgrade etc)

Welcome!

I didn't even know they did a saloon! You might be a bit lonely in your 'usergroup' but welcome to Briskoda!

There wernt great numbers of Saloons predicted for the UK market, Personaly I think the Saloon is the best proportioned Fabia, the hatch and estate are good in their own right. Again theres a model to suit most people. In CZ they have all the models specs and I think the upper spec saloon in the gold looks brilliant, it needs to be seen to do it justice. Locally my dealer did have a couple as courtesy saloon cars in comfort 1.4 8v dark blue, we had one for a day or so and loved it.

I bet people are surprised at your boot space for what is termed a "supermini". If I remember correctly :?: I think the storage space is greater than the estate version but I am not completly sure on that one.

My dealer still hasnt shifted their 51 reg Fabia Sedan demonstrator! Its often loaned out as a courtesy car (but when i needed one , i got a Mitsu Space star instead...Doh!..still havent driven a 'Furbie'!). I didnt know they only came as one model...what is it , a classic?

The saloon is based on the Classic trim, although it has a couple of extra goodies that like central locking and electric front windows...

I saw a saloon in the showroom and was impressed by the boot space. The back seats collapse independently which gives even more space.

The saloon only comes with a 16v engine, based on Classic trim in the UK, but with power windows. Overseas the saloon comes in all trims with all engines. I bought a Comfort version with an 8v engine sourced from Ireland through a car supermarket in the UK. On the plus side I got map reading lights, front fog lights, colour-coded mirrors, on-board computer thingy, and a upgraded radio/cassette. The 8v engine is fine for my needs...I only use the car at weekends (covered 4k miles since Nov 2001)

On the downside the central locking is not remote and I had to pay for a 3-year warranty. When the petrol cap warped after 8 months (a known-issue apparently), Skoda fixed it free of charge.

At the end of the day, the car came in within budget, and cheaper than the Classic in the showroom. My defence is that I got the spec that I wanted, the engine I wanted and the body style I wanted.

I have been stopped in Tesco's car park by someone who wanted to know what it was like to drive. I have also been stopped by hatchback owners who didn't realise the car came with such a large boot.

I think Skoda's biggest mistake has been not to produce an RS Fabia in a saloon version, something sporty with a supercharged engine.

I have driven the saloon, and it is a bit different to the two hatches I have had.

I have to be honest though and say that the proportions and styling really let it down, when you look at the Seat saloon, it is a much more attractive package, but the fabia does look like it's been glued on the back. And the access is quite small too, so you have more room but it cannot be used.

I would say they have shifted far less than the already nominal numbers they expected to.

The UK is not a good saloon market. In other territories, eg Ireland (where mine came from) and Eastern and Central Europe, saloons are much more highly regarded.

I wouldn't say it looks like it has been glued on the back. I think it looks fairly natural.
