Engine light flashing please help

Featured Replies

My dads has a 2003 1.9SDI octavia and the glowplug symbol on the dash has started to flash. Before this when he was driving yesterday the light came on and stayed on until he turned the car off. This morning he checked the oil level and it was a bit low so he topped it up but the oil warning light didnt come on so i dont think this has anything to do with the problem(i hope!). Now when the car is started the glowplug light goes off then within a couple of seconds the light starts flashing . Also the airbag system light has been on for the last couple of weeks(im only finding out about this now   ) so i dont know if this is related. Can anyone help and let me know what is going on? any help would be brilliant thanks :)

Do all of the brake lights work?

Do all of the brake lights work?

Do ANY of the brake lights work??? my mate at work had the same thing and it was his brake light relay:confused:

Apparently the glowplug light flashing is purely a fault indicator in general and not neccassarily an engine fault......!

It is the equivalent of the engine management light and indicates a fault in the engine management system. A faulty brake light switch or even blown brake light bulbs is one of the most common causes of it flashing.

The brake light switch is linked to the engine management as it uses its signal to adjust the fuelling when using the brakes.
