Speaker Door Builds

Featured Replies

Guten tag!

I've been reading about the dodgy speakers and head unit in these forums. I pick up my Okky tomorrow and when I tested it out it was obvious that the standard install was woeful.

Changes will be required, and quickly.

One question I have is this:

Has anyone ever seen or made a custom door install? One where some additional apeture is created and allowing for components to be installed.

If I could get hold of another set of door cards, could they be modified or would it require a completly new build?

Questions, questions and more questions!!!

Chris

I fitted a set of infinity reference 6010cs components in my octavia and they fitted behind the original grills when the metal spacer included was used. The difference in sound is very noticeable and I have now amped them using a JBL 75.4 4 channel amp. this is all being ru off a pioneer 77mp3 head unit also running a jbl 250w sub. All this combined leads to an awesome sound to which i can't even have it on full volume! The quality is second to none also.

I looked around for door builds and even cut out my grille tabs ready to make some but when i trial fitted the infinities i found there was no need!! Spend the money on a decent head unit, components, amp and sub and you'll have more than enough.

I forgot to say I've got an estate. I would like to avoid subs and also amps unless they can be hidden away (so the wife can't see!!)

I've got my Alpine headunit from my Suki to swap in at some point. The speakers are the main concern at the mo. I've read loads of other threads on this and don't like the sound of cutting up the plastic membrane in the door, but leaving it there ruins the bass.

Anyway, I'm really getting ahead of myself at the mo. I've only just managed to convine the banker (wife) to purchase the car. Not sure how I'm going to break the news that the audio needs replacing. Time to start saving.

Chris

stick the alpine HU in there, follow the instructions to cut the membrane (It is worth doing!) and you should see some improvement.
