Going to Awesome GTI for some work and maybe a quickshift?

Featured Replies

Hello to all...

After numerous visits to Simpsons Skoda in Colne and no joy with repairing the knocking while going over bumps from the front of the car (I feel a knck right through the steering wheel!)...and the warranty running out! I am now going to try 'Awesome' I hope they are going to live up to their name. Spoke to someone on the phone yesterday seemed very polite and professional.

They are just going to have a look at it next Friday and tell me the 'damage'. I hope its not too much!!! May get a quick shift as well which would hopefully get rid of the nasty rubbery vague gearshift I have at present which started pretty soon after buying the car!

I will keep you all informed...

Went today got there very impressed by the lay out and appearance very neat with lots of goodies on display. All the staff were really nice and helpful especially the techy/mechanic guy who checked all the car over, took it for a test drive on his own then with me, reasurred me then offered to double check everything again. Sarah was fantastic as well really helpful...I wanted a quickshift for my Octy which is going to be about £150 all in (including VAT) and she was still hunting around on the net for a cheaper part. All in all a really nice place with equally nice staff....Defo AWESOME.

By the way getting quickshift fitted next Thursday will keep you posted. I am thinking of the ARP chipping as well if Insurance allowed anyone had experience with this? Something in the future me thinks

did they fix the knocking issue ? if so what was the cure ?

There was apparently nothing to fix...it was'nt a knocking noise as such just a knocking sensation coming through the steering wheel when going over bumps and pot holes. A new anti roll bar had been fitted by SKODA not that long ago and all the Techy/Mechanic guy did was check it all out and gave the bolts a once over to make sure they were all tight. He did say to keep on driving it and if it got any worse then get back in touch which was very nice others could have made up some blag story and charged more money!

Hi

Yes was great to see you

Sorry we was so busy and could not get a bit more time to chat

But we did manage a quick chat

Always great to meat fellow Briskodians here and we will do our best to make sure everyone is happy

As people do say , I am pretty good at helping people spend their money , but we dont charge extra for nothing and I will always advise if there is a suitable cheaper part

 on a nice car , and if I can help you further please feel free to let me know

See you soon for the short shifter ;)

Hi Sarah

Thanks I am really looking forward to having the quickshifter fitted, I may just get that demo 6 hour remap done on my car to try out as well!

Sarah what is the score about the aircon system cleaning and how much would it cost and how long would it take to do?

Thanks

Got the quickshift fitted today...it does feel different and firmer now...I also got a aircon clean done and the 6 Hour remap done which is quite nice as well!!!

I am thinking of getting Xenons fitted next time and may even consider getting the car lowered...anyone done these?

Had some problems with the remap...Engine light came on and was flashing when giving the car some stick and the power kept cutting out...phoned AWESOME GTI. I was told to bring it in they had a look and guess what they found...

Problem with spark plugs not being screwed in tight enough and the boost pressures had pushed a coilpack up. All was fixed super fast...now the car is running super fast well for a few more hours anyway!

Nice job from Awesome thanks to all the guys...especially the tech who did a quick top job.

Hi

Yes it did seem a bit worrying at the time , goes to show how delicate these engines can be....but at least we managed to resolve this quickly for you

Anything else , just give us a shout
