sound problems

Featured Replies

got an annoying problem, it seems that my tape player doesn't want to always play through my front left speaker. it seems to work and not work when it feels like it. so wasn't sure if it was a loose wire in the door from where previous owners have been slamming it to pieces. the thing is, is that the radio plays perfectly through both speakers, so I'm not sure if it's a problem behind the unit.

any suggestions?

Get a CD/MP3 Head Unit!!!

Hey,

(Firstly make sure it doesn't only happen with one tape, because it could be the tape thats nackered rather than the head unit)

If it happens with all tapes then becuase the tape has to rub up against a metal head to pick up the sounds, it can sometimes either wear out, or just get dirty. this metal head has left and right channel pick ups on it, so might just be ones slightly dirty.

So i would go out and get a tape cleaning kit, available from most comet's / Curry's etc, should only be about a fiver, and you put a cleaning soilution on the cleaning tape and it cleans the heads for you.

This is the simplest thing to check first, if it doesn't work then i would look at loose speaker connections in the door, and then a new head unit is the last option.
