vRS 3" Milltek system....!!

Featured Replies

Eventually got my car to Miltek Sports today for the new 3" system to be fabricated!! This will be the pattern/design for the first (only) 3" cat back off the shelf system avaliable for the vRS.

When I get the car back next week i'll post more details/pics etc.

Steve:thumbup:

thats probably going to be quite loud and quite boomy being 3"

I have a 2.5" Blueflame system on ym estate and that gets bloody boomy at times.

The guys at Milltek are having the car for the whole week to try and test different silencers, to hopefully avoid too much booming - it will only have one silencer:eek: to ensure maximum flow from the turbo/cat.

2.5" is too restrictive apparently for the bigger turbo's i.e. IHI's & Garrett's etc. Evo's and Scooby's use 3" to good effect, so hopefully this can be replicated with mine.

It's all in the name of performance:thumbup:

I don't think you need a 3" system myself, overkill.

on the first RR after tuning my car made over 260bhp at high revs with more to come once i had the head issue fixed.

Going too big, can also decrease HP. All depends though....

2.75" is used for Cupra R's running KO4's, that if anything would be overkill IMHO.

The idea of a bigger system (well, bigger than 2.5"), was dreamt up between myself and Jabbasport, it was their opinion that 2.75" or 3" could, and should be used when coupled to the IHI on the Octavia.

The top guy from Milltek said to me '2.5" is fine for 180bhp-260bhp, but bigger (i.e. 2.75" or 3") is needed to make it as efficient as possible, especially when dealing with 330bhp+'.

This was my point when I was referring to the size of systems (3") used on Evo's and Scooby's producing similar power levels as mine.

Jabba and Milltek are the daddy's in this game, so I trust their judgement 110%

well hopefully all goes well then, looking forward to the review of it when you get it back :)

Latest update!

The system is going to be made from 2.75" (70mm.) instead of the original plan of 3" (76mm.)

The pipework didn't leave a comfortable gap over the axle.... And you would need solid springs to ensure you wouldn't crush it going over a bump etc.

More details to follow......

 You mean you haven't got solid springs.

Latest update....

I should've been picking the car up this Saturday, but the machine that bends the pipe work has gone for a sh!t.... And they don't get the parts to fix it till Monday:eek:

Will have to wait till Wednesday evening now before I get the car back :(....but they are now going to deliver the car to my home address  as a sign of good will and for any inconvenience caused by the delay.

So, fair play to Milltek!!!

...make sure the apprentice doesn't deliver it....

Will be interested to know how this works with your set up. I have had a 3" Jabba downpipe (off an IHI set up) professionally mated up to the standard 2½" miltek system just before the cat. Will see how this affects ultimate output at Jabba next week.

Well, eventually got the car back today....

It's a work of art what Milltek have done!! It's fu*king great:D :D

It sounds nice with a very deep rumble on tick over, but when you give it the beans it roars with a real hard edged tone......evo style:D 11 out of 10 for Milltek:thumbup:

Will be able to say more once it is mapped next week.

Pics to follow shortly.

I understand your new exhaust will become the blue print for a IHI specific Milltek exhaust for the Octy. Been to Jabba today and I think I need one, including a cat more conducive to high output. Will be interested in what you get from your remap next week :D .

Yeah it is the the blueprint for the IHI specific system. To go to 3" would've caused too many problems around the rear axle beam, the pipe would've been made oval to fit with a comfortable gap....Milltek said this is not good for flow or production.

The cat I had from jabba is rated up to 450bhp I think... It is certainly well within the limits of what i'll be wanting anyway.

I still have standard internals on my engine, so that'll be the limiting factor.... Once mapped the plots will be posted along with some pics etc.
