Anyone else bought First Call breakdown cover via Chris Knott?

I'm insured via CK and asked about breakdown cover as my AA sub was due for renewal last week. CK recommended First Call and I took the UK package at

Was it just an advertisement, or did you go online and have a look? It could be that the advert says "From" £42.50 and that it rates on the age and type of car. You do tend to get a bigger discount if you buy online, but its usually only an extra 10-15%. If you've only just renewed the cover, then you're in the 14 day cooling off period where you should be able to get a full refund on the cover, as long as you haven't used it. Then go and take it out online.

My curiosity got the better of me and I phoned First Call. Apparently if you buy the policy through Chris Knott, cover for Europe is automatically added at a discount rate (even if you don't need the extra cover!) and the charge is

Have paid out before for First call. Not impressed. Never again. Have just submitted my case to BBC watchdog programme.

You might find the odd happy customer, but rare.

Although that said I've had a chat with a breakdown company about a much (much) better deal. I'll bring it up again soon with them :)
