BAD THROTTLE RESPONSE 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

Hi.I'm from Macedonia and I find this forum very interesting.

My car is VW Lupo 1.4 16v 55kw/75PS Magneti-Mareli.

My problem :

Throttle body was cleaned and the adaptations with VAG-COM were made.

The response was awesome, the car was acting like rocket, but..

As days go by,the effect was fading everyday little by little and today the result is

slugish car and very bad response. If you want to drive normally you have to press the throttle pedal below the half to the floor.Fuel consumption has risen also.

I noticed black color on my spark plugs so I suspect retarded ignition or fouled knock senesor. But why then ,first days the car was terrfic?Does anybody know is the ECU of some learninig kind that can learn driver's habbits and adapt the behaviour of the car, because I drive a little defensive way?

Any suggestions , please?

Do you mean that you've had your car re-mapped? Just cos I'm not clear what you meant by "the adaptations with VAG-COM were made".

Whether you have or not, there's no way that a normal VAG ECU would use "fuzzy logic" (learning how you drive) to try and slow you down.

I don't think this looks like a timing or knock sensor problem either. I'd say it's more likely to be the Mass Air Flow sensor (somewhere in the plastic intake trunking between the air filter and the throttle body) or the Lambda sensor (only if cars are equipped with Catalytic Convertors in your market).

i think it means that they had the throttle body re-aligned after being removed and cleaned... which is normal!!

you dont say what year your car is or wether it is drive-by-wire or not?? but i suspect it will have the magnetti-marelli 4av or 4cv ecu which does have adaptive learning for fuel and ignition trim settings, but it wont alter the driving characteristics of the car to that extent.

that engine doen't have a mass air flow meter, instead it has a MAP sensor on the left hand end of the intake manifold..

my first quess would be the coolant temperature sensor giving false or inaccurate readings.

when you say you're spark plugs are black, are they oily or are they dry??
