Possibly buying a Fabia vRS on Thursday - is this a good deal?

Featured Replies

Been looking into getting one for a while now and while other options have been thought of and ruled out, the Fabia vRS (and the Civic Sport) are now fighting out to be my next car.

Local Skoda dealer to me has been very kind and called me about a 53 plate vRS which they've just taken in PX. Its being sold for

With regards to the towbar, the vRS is not insured to tow.. but you can fit a towbar, or at least people have.

The first dealer I visited stated that if I fitted a towbar, regardless of weather I was towing (i also want a bike rack) that it would invalidate the warranty.

Poped up the road and asked another dealer who said it wouldn't be a problem. They are even going to get it fitted for me :)

£8.5k sounds a little on the expensive side to me but then on the other hand it is fairly low mileage.

I know I can get a better deal privately but I've got my other car as PX and to be honest, they've offered me a fair price on that.

The others I've seen going for that price have mostly been 04/54 plates with similar mileage so for the sake of getting it from a main dealer around the corner, I 'think' I'm happy to go with it. But then its silver and if a black one were to come up for the same price... hmmmmmmm...

you can have my '05 model for £8k :) still under original warrenty... got 75,000 miles on it though, and the seats are stained ;) *sharky notes what a convincing "seller" he is! lol...

Although I didn't think much of their customer service - New Cars Suppliers Motorhouse 2000 Ltd Cannock West Midlands UK - they have 2 at the moment both 06 plate - one at £9800 and one £10000 - if you want to spend that much that is. I think they get most of their cars from Skoda UK - that's where mine came from.

The Fabia vRS dropped between £225-£500 (depending on age) last month alone in Glass's Guide. For a 53-reg that means they are worth about £350 less that they were the previous month........

Lots of 3-4 year old cars are on the market now, and prices aren't as strong as they used to be, which is also affecting the 1-2 year old car values. Haggle very hard, or walk away there are plenty of others to choose from, just be patient.

What's the colour and spec on it, i.e. any extras? I'd maybe be looking to pay 7500-7750 for that, from a dealer.

There do seem to be some better deals out there, but often these will be private sales. So depends if you particularly want to buy from a dealer, maybe from a 'peace of mind' point of view.
