lpg?

Featured Replies

Hi all Iwas thinking of geting a vrs is there a link where you can get a L.P.G convertion for this car 2.0tfsi for should I get a derv or none just have a lighter right foot:O

Average MPG I've found is around 25, although it has been as low as 10 before ;)

If economy is an issue, then the diesel is for you. If you want performance, stick with the TFSI.

I would like both but lifes not that perfeck I drive a golf 2.0 8v and get 260 to 42 liters so thats about 25/30 mpg to from work just looking at what happens tommorrow then " budget":thumbdwn:

LPG conversions are expensive, fuel stations selling it are hard to find, performance drops from when using petrol and manufacturers are concentrating on direct petrol injection and diesel to get better fuel economy these days. SAAB have moved over to Bioethanol even - its green AND gives better performance that petrol!

Vauxhaul used to do 'dual-fuel' (Petrol/LPG) versions of the Astra but have, I believe, now dropped these. Certainly in the Fleet world LPG is pretty much a dead duck!

So; either stick with you Golf OR buy a vRS TFSI Octy if you want ultimate performance OR get a vRS TDI Octy if you want performance WITH economy; at 140mph Vmax and 8.5sec 0-60, it will be quicker than your Golf 8v.

It isnt that hard to find LPG?

On the continent there is much better infrastructure for it though, and at least half the filling stations have it.

It can be economical too and performance wise you can tweak things to make it quite reasonable to drive on. Not gonna be same as 99/100 RON stuff though for sure, and yes you'd loose a bit of top end.

Golf? its one option thats for a car 10 years old with 76k on clock and had to spend

I run a focus st170 on LPG (which is for sale by the way!) and has the new sequential injection type of LPG conversion and i cant really tell the difference between LPG and Petrol. Perhaps only very slightly the torqe on a big up hill drag but apart from that you wouldnt know. I live in the back of beyond near Anglesey and I have no problem finding LPG filling stations, there are 3 within a few miles, you would be suprised how many there are. Even if you have to add a couple of miles to a journey to get to somewhere that sells it, at around 40p per litre, who cares??

Lets put it this way, you can have a great and powerfull car and not have to worry how much of a hole you burnt in your pocket when you drove home at warp factor 9!
