10,000 Miles! just less than half the distance around the circumference of the earth!

My car has reached a major landmark regarding the distance it has travelled and all the miles were brilliant:thumbup:

How come the service spanner has not shown it's head yet?

also does it matter that much if the service is done at say 11000 miles? will it affect warranty etc? I guess not but you never know.

I have done 40,000 trouble free miles and it is still great!!!

I wouldn't let it get to far over the service interval especially as its the first one, some dealers can be akward about it if you go too far and it's only about

Service spanner may not have appeared if it was incorrectly setup at PDI? Usually allowances are 1k miles beyond the stated mileage so anything up to 11k should be fine (however, future buyers may wonder why it wasn't done on the dot and walk away....). Mention the spanner at the service and they should be able to enable it for you :D

Some people on here (hello Alex  ) didn't get their car serviced because the spanner hadn't appeared and went a "few" miles over the 10k and their dealer wasn't bothered.... May be a good way to save on servicing costs as it probably doesn't really *need* to be serviced every 10k miles ;)

Chris

mine has just come on with 3100k to go  also if you leave the ignition on with out starting the car the display changes to 303 and a clock symbol what does that mean ? and last time when my service light gets to 1k it boings each time i start the car and as i teach in it its a lot of starts in a day :orb_duh:

If anything were to go wrong with the engine, skoda could say that you never followed the correct servive interval and not honour the claim.

The service spanner has never lit up on my car either.

I'm going to Los Vegas at the end of the month may not have time to fit it in thats all. I will definitly take it in after.

£125 thats not bad at all. Just had a quote for £150 from Bickertons Skoda...I could get it done for £110 elsewhere do you think I can barter them down ?

hopefully will have only done another 500 miles before it gets taken in to dealer so they shouldn't mind. They have said 1000 miles is maximum before they invalidate warranty

My Fabia went up to......................17k before its first service.:D I got from a dealer in merseyside......ahem.....that said it had the enhanced oil in and could do 20,000 miles between servicing. This is even written in the maintenance handbook! The spanner did however show its ugly head at 15k which soon rose to 17k as they couldn't book me in for 2 weeks...........Got a bolloc$ing off my local dealership:rolleyes: :D
