Hello everyone.

Just saying a quick hello and then off for my first post.

Been after a Octavia VRS for a while but circumstances have changed so now i'm looking at a 1.9TDi Octavia or Fabia.

Hope to speak to you all soon.

Welcome.

According to a mate of mine who has a personal vRS, and 2 TDis for taxi work, the main thing you'll miss day to day by getting the diesel is a 25mpg thirst! (diesels should return well into the 50s or 60s most places).

Are you serious? Did I understand right? A diesel will only return 25mpg, that cant be right, can it?

I doubt even the most enthusiastic drivers could get their consumption down to 25 mpg on a normal drive in a diesel. (Although I'm sure someone will be along to correct me..) You should be looking at mid 40's to 50's depending how you drive. You can get even better economy on long journeys or if you drive like a granny:D

I think you got that totally backwards mate; I meant that the vRS petrol will only do about 25mpg; other than the A5 vRS diesel (170bhp), the diesels are likely to do 50plus mpg in anything other than stop-start town driving.

Who're you calling a granny!? ;) I've had better than 60mpg from an A4 Ambiante (90bhp) with a mixture of M25 traffic jam, mid-60s cruising on the M3 and M25 (dark, didn't know the road [junction postions], only just picked up a hire car) and some in-town welly out of junctions in Fareham and environs.

:DSorry.

I meant to say you can get 60+mpg if you drive like ken...;)

Welcome aboard!
