Xenons are they worth it??

Featured Replies

Hi just wondering whether you would by a Fabia with Xenons or a younger model with less mileage? or Would you upgrade later with an aftermarket set if you bought the younger model??

Thanks:)

Here we go again:

Those of us with Xenons that are set up properly think they are absolutely marvelous and wouldn't be without them.

Those of us who have never tried them don't think they are worth the money.

fabia with xenons mate av just got one aftermarket kits wont really be good on a fabia without projector style headlights and then they are like £180

so aftermarket hid kit £120

projector headlights £180

so theres liks £300

plus when it comes to mot time some garages might fail you for not having headlight washers

hope that helps mate

Thanks guys....

I agree with bryand. But my car (with properly set up xenons) went back to the dealer and was hooked up to the computer for something... this reset the lights back to being absolutely crap again  Oh great, another trip back to the dealers :woot:

Out the box the xenons are a pile of poo. But get the dealer to set them to the max height and they are 100 times better. Worth the money.

I think mine are at max height. I get on average 3 flashes a day off other (unhappy) drivers. - Sorry!! :o

They are bloody good though.

I totally agree.

If you have them they are great, if you dont fit rally bulbs, illegal but will give you great lights. If you break a Xenon cry, 2 for our Octy 1 list were about 1100 with bulbs, thankfully we found some at the breakers, it was the final straw to getting the car written off but at least I bought it back & made a profit :) :)

fabia xenon headlight (dont know if it includes a bulbs) is £300

xenons are great i have them got them on my new car on all of my old cars i have put 100w rally bulbs in you can get them from halfords for about £7-£10 a lamp but xenons are still better i always say it is the difreance between black and wight and colour

Another vote for xenons as long as they are set up correctly.

not a problem with my Xenons from the factory!

Xenons get my vote 100%, they are a must when you drive in dark conditions. This is my first car with them and now I wonder how I could live without them.

The light is just so much better and clearer.

The road traffic act says that if you fit aftermarket xenons then they must be fitted in the correct headlamp unit (one designed for xenons) and they do have to be self leveling and they do have to have headlamp washer units.

if the cops ever pull you or if the MOT tester ever notices is another thing so you would prob get away with it. hell you dont even get pulled if your lights dont work these days but thats a rant for another day.

Hmmm, the section on lighting in the MOT TESTERS MANUAL makes no mention of this ?

Which section number of the act refers to this please ?

There is certainly nothing about it in section 8 (construction & use) where I would have expected it to be.

Headlight washers must work on cars fitted with both headlight washers and xenons, that is the only mot part about this.

Some bmw's with xenons don't have washers.

Unless you can post where it states that in the road traffic act i say you are talking ****** mate. This has been talked to death on many forums with people talking crap like this. Aftermarket HID kits are a grey area of the law that has no rules that apply to them other then the headlights must be aligned properly same as any car.

this is correct but only on the ones that dont have bi-xenons.

Is that counted as 'properly set up' then?

Lets just say I was finally getting my £500 quids worth.... so yeah :D
