We have an 05 Octavia Ambiente and we're well pleased with it. However, we are considering getting roof bars to allow us to get a roof box as we need a bit more space at the moment. Does anyone have any recommendations/comments as to Skoda's own bars or any other manufacturers' products; also how easy is it to fit the bars? Can a reasonably competent DIYer do it or is it a dealer job?

Good products, good prices & mostly good service but check very carefully that what you want is in stock before ordering. My roofbox arrived next day; I waited months for my roofbars! (many phonecalls/broken promises)

Yep I got Atera roofbars for my Octy from Roofbox.co.uk and they were cheap (£90) and arrived quick my mate couldn't even match that with his staff discount at the cycle shop he works in.

Roofbox.co.uk definitely good.

Got roofbars + 4 bike carriers for under 100 notes for our Ambiente.

Cheapest by far I found after much looking around.

You gets what you pay for, mind - cheap and cheery but they make no bones about it on their site - and they do have a range of options.
