Featured Replies

just purchased myself a blue skoda octavia glx 1.9tdi andthe prolem is that i have had the number one (far left looking from the front)cam bearing overheat and cam snapped, i replaced the head and cam only for it to start over heating and melting again, if anyone can help i would be very grateful:)

sounds like oil starvation to the head journals

Agreed, and with something as specific as "this bearing's done it twice" I think it's pretty obvious which oil feed needs looking at!

thanks any tips on checking the oil feeds

you will have to check that the bearings in the head, make sure that the oil feed holes line up, followthe oil gallery to the head/block face and ensure that these are clear, you could try passing a lenght of wire through them, the other thing to do ewould be to fit an oil pressure guage to the eninge, to find out if the pressure at idle speed is ok, the check at 2'000rpm, if there's no significant increase you may be looking at a worn oil pump.

hpoe this helps
