My car kills the wireless ??

Featured Replies

Staying at my sister-in-law + boyfriend's house at the moment.

By parking my car near the window of the living room, the wireless fails to work (lots of clashing signals). If however I park it away behind his car, signal goes to full and it work well :)

Now to the best of my knowledge no radio-related equipment is transmitting.

Any ideas on what could be the reason?

It's a 54g network.

Just wanna try to work out what could do it, I know the car has a fair bit of metal in it of course but why?

(ps the new engine isnt the problem as it did the same last time we were here)

 Very random!!

I found that my RC transmitter & receiver which is wifi frequency went glitchy near a large container (metal of course) and so I think its reasonable to pin point the car as the cause although it is wierd :D

Ps, just noticed you have the fabia back  :thumbup::D

Yep and it's GOOD :D

It is amazing how much power it has at motorway speeds - if I were on a private road and booted it from say 3000 rpm indicated in 6th, it would probably get up to 4000 rpm rather sharpishly ;)

Not tried hitting the red in that gear though but in the 3/4/5th it's amazing how hard it pulls up to the redline.

Was stuck in traffic most of the way except for the very last bit, plus speed cameras and a fair bit of traffic, so not really been able to open her up safely in both ways ;)

Great fun though :D

You have not called your car Mr Bean have you?

Not yet but tempting :P ;):D

Interesting issue with the wireless. My dad's Fabia is in the garage almost directly under our wireless router and doesn't cause any problems. If you are sure it's causing a conflict try changing the wi-fi channel on the router. 11 is the default and not many people change it so try 6 instead.

It's just odd - by moving the car it's been 100% reliable though, full strength signal.

I wonder if the car is somehow bouncing the other routers' signals into the property.

In any case, I know where to park  as the wireless has been 100% stable since I moved it to it's new location :D
