Featured Replies

this morning i was in a rush and knocked a power saw of the shelf in the garage onto my 7 month old fabia.

now on the bonnet of the car their are 4 small chipped marks and 1 on the wing.

cause i've bought the car using VW finance do i have to go back to the dealer or use a smaller body shop ?

any idea of the cost ? (it's a meltelic (sp) cappu beige)

thanks

you can go where you like.

Any bodywork has to be be Skoda approved does it not, in order to maintain the Skoda 10 year warranty?

I got a quote from the Skoda bodyshop to straighten and respray my rear bumper which came to £120 which I thought was very good.

I was impressed myself. The previous owner looks like they've reversed into a bollard and scuffed the rear bumper in a vertical line. Also the guy at the bodyshop said he could see it was ever so slightly deformed too and would need straightening with heat. The £120 he quoted was to take it all off, straighten it and respray the lot.

It's plus VAT though, which brings it up to £141, which still isn't bad.

I paid £200 cash for a bonnet respary on my last BMW and that was just a blowover on non-metallic paint.

The Skoda dealer bodyshop I was quoted by was FR Pulleyns in York (Station Garage, Haxby). just goes to show dealers can be good value. :)

My old intercooler fell of the shelf in my garage and landed on my Fabia's door, and scratched it quite a way down the side. Drove to Portugal (going there anyway) and got it done for 30 Euro's, by DAF.

My car was also previously vandalised by a group of kids and they kicked the rear tailgate which dented it in, then it popped out, so unfortunately it couldn't be suctioned out. Skoda charged me £300 for the tailgate to be repaired.

Ive just been quoted £120inc vat for my VRs bumper to be resprayed after someo T**t hit in a P*ssed off.

But thats not skoda approved but they do a damm good job.

So id guess at roughly the same price to do a bonnet.

Surely that's the sort of thing your local Chips Away franchise can deal with? (try Yellow pages).

I've heard mixed responses about Chipsaway. Some good, some bad. I think it depends on the individual Chipsaway chap doing the work as to how good the job is.

Go straight to the bodyshop at Haxby (station garage near the railway line) and ask them directly. The big chap who own the place is the one who quoted me for mine.

I did, and it was the 'big chap' (i think, well he was short & not thin :) ). Think he might have pushed price up a bit because i said my neighbour would be paying for it.

Anyway got fixed through insurance at an astronomical

Chips away ARE £££ They quoted me to repair my bumper £120. Proper bodyshop quoted me £120 to do the whole bumper. Id always go to a proper bodyshop. If the chipsaway quote had been £60-70 quid then i would be thinking differant.

DM keith have said they will order me some touch up paint for £5 and will do it for free. might go with them

For a fiver its worth a go.

My local independant would do that for £120. They charge me that every time I go there, regardless of what I want doing,

Seriously though, hunt out a good independant, they are rare as rocking horse poo, but worth finding.
