Skoda Assistance Renewal

Featured Replies

About a month ago received a letter from the AA saying my cover with Skoda was about to end. You would think that this being my third Skoda vrs the penny would drop that they come with 3 years assistance cover. I foolishly thought that having just bought a car from a different dealer than usual the deal maybe different and paid the AA. Today a letter arrived from Skoda Assistance to inform me that from 1st March 07 my 3 years assistance package had been transfered to the RAC! Has anybody else been stupid enough to fall for this one?

I just received a letter today informing me that I've been transferred to RAC. I've always found the AA to be excellent.

I recieved a letter this morning regarding tranfer to RAC.

Pete

Before having the skoda, my breakdown cover was always with the RAC. Had great service from them when needed. They have several adavantages over the AA, the biggest one being long distance recovery. With the AA you were relayed across the regions changing tow trucks as you went, with the RAC its one truck to anywhere in the UK.

got my letter this morning about the transfer too!

AA or RAC does it matter that much! SKODAS DONT BREAKDOWN do they??

I got one some time ago - turned out they were talking about my old Skoda whose third birthday had come along, but I'd got rid of it a year before.

*COUGH!!*

Yes if they are petrol powered so it would seem

Yep they break down.

Mine did too and the RAC were pretty good to be honest.

EDIT: mine isn't petrol and to top it off the handle came off the bonnet release too when I tried to have a look which didn't leave me in a good mood.

oops sorry chaps didnt realise i was in the octavia section

Ill go back to the reliable fabia diesel section

just kidding

No never!!

No never!!

I'll second that, never ever and if they ever stop it's because YOU broke it OK!! It's YOUR fault, not the car's, alright??

I heard today on the radio the AA are dropping their night time patrols and subbing the work out to a network of local garages.

IMO thats Pi$$ poor and they will suffer for it especially as the RAC announced they are INCREASING their night patrols. Coincedence? nah!!

Got my letter too, but what made me laugh that it took effect on 1st March 2007 and the letter that Skoda sent was dated 26th March.

So, what would have happened if I had broke down in between those dates?

Ours broke down in france, the AA were absolutely useless, we spent a day waiting for them to sort a hire car, next day a taxi collected us & drove us to a non existent hire car so we had to be taken back to the hotel, in the afternoon another taxi arrived & drove us over 100 Km to get a hire car. They were meant to liase with the garage & didnt, a total bunch of amatures.

Still if Skoda hadnt designed such a silly emission system on the new diesels the car would never have failed & we wouldnt have had to endure the AA experience

Well my wife's Fabia vrs had a brake fault on the 25th and we phoned the old number (AA) and everything was dealt with - car towed to garage. The letter came next day.
