Light Deflectors

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if anyone had a clue about fitting light deflectors (not sure if that is the right name for them) for when you go to mainland europe where they insist on driving on the wrong side of the road for some bizzare reason ;). They will be fitted on a new octy estate, some pics of the lights are below. From experience the headlights normally have markings on them to guide you in the right direction, but these have none.

Hope someone has a clue about this :)

Iain,

Halfords sell deflectors for Octy Lights, i got some last year but never got around to using them.

They come with full fitting instructions :)

Geoff, I used the DIY approach using black masking tape cut to shape as per the template. However it wasn't very successful and the tape shrunk in last summer's high temperatures! Next time I will use the Halfords converters I bought. :(

PS Masking tape also leaves very messy and sticky glue behind when you remove it.

If you can get hold of some black Fablon (sticky back plastic) then that will work a treat, its not to expensive either. We used to use this on the old car and have had no probs with the heat abroad (was 55 degrees C in the south of france last summer) no flaking or shirnking. Another added benefit is that is peels off very very easily leave little if not glue on the glass.

Give that a go if you can get you hands on some.

Using the halfords light deflectors on the clear style headlights on the facelift Octavia/Fabia and Superb, does not work as they have to be a different shape. If you phone Skoda (non)assistance, they can email you the template you need for the shape of the sticker, or you can buy the headlamp protectors with the bits stuck inside from the dealers although that route is expensive.

Your friendly skoda garage also does them (i know that for a fact), try having a word with them.

Don't quote me on this but i think they are removable aswell
