Cannot access module 46 - central convenience.

Featured Replies

Well, been having a play with VAGCOM tonight, had a look at all the instrument cluster stuff with regards to servicing, bit of a play with measuring blocks etc, all lovely.

However, it won't connect to module 46 - central convenience stuff... whats wrong?? All I want to do is deactivate selective locking and turn the auto lock feature on...

Any help appreciated. Many thanks.

Does your convenience system work? I.e. locks and windows and such?

If so, chances are your convenience module needs a cold boot -- all power needs to be removed, either by pulling the relevant fuses for a while, or by disconnecting the battery. Those convenience modules are known for getting stuck in some state where they simply won't communicate and a cold boot seems to be the only way to get them out of it. Remember, they are not powered down when you turn the ignition off or lock the car -- they're always alive looking for the remotes.

Uwe, you are a star. Support like this makes me realise I really should stump up and buy a genuine cable. :o:thumbup:

Left the battery off for 20 minutes, and it now works! Recoded my convenience locking, got a nice "chirp" when locking/unlocking etc etc...

However, I swear my windows should roll down when holding the "unlock" button on my remote... but they dont. They are working on the "one touch" so thats not the problem... any ideas? :)

Pop the carpet up on the passenger side and check its dry.

On a B5 Passat? Nope. Convenience system doesn't support that via options programmable by the factory tools or VAG-COM.

Yep, bone dry mate.

My alarm hasn't worked from day one, and now it does, so I'm guessing they are linked? Either way everything is working as I want it to now. :)

Recoded my convenience locking

Sorry for digging up an old thread but how is this done ??

Is it a case of reprogramming the remotes via the ignition or is it a job for vag-com or dealer:(

VAG COM, VCDS or dealer.

Now sorted out :)

I use to have the same prob. every now and again on my jetta. All I did was put the key in the door lock, turn and hold it to open and close the windows. Once I cycled through that, they worked again with the remote. - or - if you put the key in the ignition and turn it to on, not start then push one of the lock or unlock buttons, it should work after that as well. I know it sounds silly, but if it works, who cares.

Just one of those things. I was looking for some answers for a similar issue. Didn’t look at the date. Just wanted to be helpful. There are those who speak up. And those who sit back and watch. Help is not always appreciated by everyone. But at least it’s free.
