Hi from Porsche Owner - My Other Car is a Skoda!

Featured Replies

Hello from a new user. Great to see there is a forum for skoda owners.

I bought my t reg 1.8T Octavia SLXi last summer as a runner into work and back each day and as a cheap family motor. It's on 112k complete with tow bar so its had a tough life, but that was reflected in the price and came with main dealer fSsh and I was happy with that. Therefore so far, so OK.

My 'real' car is a bright red mint condition 1993 Porsche 928 GTS on 75k - all 5.4 litres and 350 bhp of it. I love it to bits but it costs over

So i have questions:

1. Does anyone know a decent independent skoda specialist in the Bristol area?

2. Is it a big job to replace the aerial cable (i.e. can I do it myself?)

3. Does anyone know where I can buy a "My Other Car is a Skoda" sticker for my Porsche!!

cheers

BG928.

1. Nope, but if you fancy sampling a tuned derv fabia give me a shout. I'm in brizzle at the moment (in Westbury area)

2. The whole cable from aerial to radio? Could be a bit fiddly I imagine. Roof lining removed down passenger side, and possible dash out job.

3. Ebay, I suspect. Yup :D

OK thanks devonutopia.

sticker is good - will will look for a colour one though

re aerial - i think I will go down to western car audio and get them to have a look for me stick in a better system as well - I put in spare old nakamichi I had from an old car but sounds isnt so good plus the speakers need a good look over.

If you get stuck with the Aerial let me know, could easily stick another plug on it for you :)

Is the aerial thing just something a signal booster will sort out?

"Sounds like pigs talking" :D - I love it

Not if the connection is bad to start with, as the old addage goes "sh!t amplified is just amplified sh!t" :(

Maybe they are chatting to the mooing brakes!

yes i think a new plug might do it, guys in halfords told me it wasnt possible and I would need to put a new lead in. if its possible I am sure I could put it on myself with a pair of long nose pliers.

my head unit is one that has the long 2 inch female tube to accept male aerial connector. where can i get one of those? Maplin? Motoman?

thanks

You should be able to get a solder on or screw on one from Maplin et al. I personally would go for an adaptor from someone like Halfrauds then clip the unused end and solder the two together. That way you have more working space and it's easier to refit the radio :)

thanks for this - seems Maplin has just what I am looking for. Next is some nice grey mats to soften up the interior. I dont really want to pay for a new set from my main dealer. I also tried the ones you see on ebay but not sure if they are originals. wheres the best place to get second hand ones? Scrap dealer? this forum?

thanks
