Boot open/closed switch????

Featured Replies

I noticed the other day that this was missing from my 1.3 hatch felicia and i had it in the glove box (previous owner must have removed).

So today i set about re-installing it to see what it would do.... and it doesnt seem to do anything. Anyone have any ideas????

what do you mean by boot open/closed switch???????

For a boot light maybe?

Assuming it has one.

I mean the little push switch that is located at the top right of the boot lip. Similar to the one found on the doors to detect when a door is open to turn the interior light on.

It has a boot light yes, but this is controlled manually and doesn't switch off when the boot is closed and only does so if the switch is turned off or the side lights are switched off.

Thanks

Right so the switch is for the light, is there wiring there?

yes there is wiring... and have connected it up, but like i say, it doesn't actually switch anything on/off.

Maybe the wiring to it is knackered and thats why it was taken off.....

Is the boot light switch in the correct position?

I seem to remember that the boot light on the Felicia is switched from a microswitch on the boot catch (the part in the tailgate). I recall that the metal strip on the catch loses its' tension and doesn't operate the switch, a bit of selective bending may cure it.

Maybe it didn't have a boot light as standard and the previous owner has attempted to retro fit one.

A picture would help.

Tried boot light switch in both positions with side lights on/off.

Dont think its been fitted by someone, is a manufacturer fit as it is controlled by side lights as mentioned before.

Maybe the wiring is knackered. Was jus curious about it really... go great deal if it doesn't work/do anything....

Thanks
