I have a pair of replacement wing mirrors for my y-reg tdi and I'm wondering whether I can realistically install them myself, or whether I should just let the garage do it? I've had a look at the door panels and I can't see how to get them off.

IIRC its just the tweeter grille that needs removing. Pull the back edge and slide the top of it towards the back of the car and it will come off. No door card removal required.

The tweeter grills are secured by a single crew and some poppers which need to be pulled outward not upward.

The easiest solution is to pop the door cards off which in itself isn't the easiest job :(
