Would you recommend that I get my Air Con Gas looked at when my car goes in for it's service on Monday. The car is 4 yrs old and how much would it cost to get new gas. The AC is used everday.

Personally, if it's working ok I wouldn't bother.

Special deal at VW dealers right now £99 for total gas recovery, system check, refill, flush airways for bugs and fit new filter with activated charcoal coating - sounds okay, but I would have thought if the system was being emptied then the filter drier should also be changed and maybe the orifice. All fridge systems leak a little - especially those that are not used much in the winter, so youre one must need a little extra gas added by now - but I wish that I could take my own advice!

The filter dryer only needs to be replaced if the system is opened to atmostphere which it isnt during a service.
