Removing Dealers Name

Featured Replies

My dealer has put his name, phone number and internet address on my back window (at the top in the centre). In the olden days dealers did this by applying a see-through bit of plastic with their details on. Easily removed.

My dealer has stick individual letters and numbers on the window and in some cases they go over the heating elements. I hate the presence of these details and it irritates me that they are there. It is bad enough having them on the number plates.Any suggestions how these might be removed without damaging the heating elements. I have worked out how to get rid of the details on the number plates!

Use a hair dryer to heat the glue, then some glass cleaner and a micro fibre cloth.

Thanks, Mike. I'll give that a try.

tell your dealer to remove them as you don't want them on it and you didnt pay for them in the first place, say you'll keep them on if he will sponsor your car ;) failing that as above :)

I'm inclined to agree that the dealer should take them off - especially if over the heating elements.

As you say, it was different before when stickers could be taken off relatively easily. I now think it's the dealer's problem rather than mine.

Regards

Mo

Does the manual say anything about not placing stickers over the rear heating element?

If so, you would like a new rear windscreen please ;)

Failing that maplin/servisol label remover will have them off in no time.

I doubt its really a problem due to the fact that tinting film is regually placed over the rear elements

If you read the manual... certainly the renault ones do state this fact.

My point is they will get it off PDQ if that's the case.

i actually like my dealer stickers on mine coz if there placed right when yuo brake at night it glows red with the boot brake light

sad but i like it :)

This is one of my pet hates, dealer stickers are unsightly and in your case could potentially damage the heater element if you try and remove it. I would ask your dealer to remove it 'just in case'.

My pain in the bum dealer decided it'd be nice to stick a decal of the dealer name on the actual body work on the boot!

Heat it with a hairdryer and it should come off easily enough.

Good Good... I'll have a go this weekend!

If it's warm (as it looks like it's going to be  ) then you may not need to use the hairdryer method, all you want is the adhesive to be soft and it should peel off relatively easily. Good luck :)

When I wanted to remove the oversize 4X4 decals from the rear window of my 4X4 Estate, I found this unhelpful information in the Owner's Manual:

The adhesive sticker for identifying 4X4 models on the rear window must only be removed by a Skoda Dealer using a special technology otherwise the rear window heater might be damaged.

I used a modelling knife to scrape the sticker off the glass, taking great care to stay clear of the heating elements, and iso propanol alcohol (IPA) to clean off the residue.

when i brought my car i said to the dealer that i didnt want any of his stickers on the car he said he had to put one on the rear window so i told him to put it where it can be removed eaisely. anythink stuck onto the bodywork can eaisley be romoved when heated up i used a hair dryer when i removed my side bump strips on the doors

"Luckily" mine came with a faulty rear element of which one strip wasnt working so the dealer replaced the whole screen minus the decals that were originally on it

I told the last place that told me they "had to" put their stickers on the car that if I turned up and the sticker was on the car the deal would be off and made them write it into the contract.

Not a single sticker in they car. It is just free advertising, and with the legal requirement on reg plates now they get enough of that.

well thanks to Makefish I had much success in removing the dealer decals yesterday. All it needed was a hot day (26 degrees) and the missus and her fingernails!

Looking much better now.

Made the dealer promise on pain of death not to stick anything in the rear window of my car. The stickers that this particular dealer uses are huge and the Fabia rear screen is small enough as it is.

However it still says the dealers name on it in four other places. Cunning swines.
