Taken off and now you can see how dirty and clogged up it was

Split hose:

What I did not do was clean the air intake manifold as I could not be arsed with taking it off the car (plus I wanted to only do one thing at a time), but I did insert my finger into it and scoop out some horrible black thick/googy oil from it, so I guess that can't have helped either.

The split hose in 2906 is the vacuum hose that controls the butterfly (anti shudder) valve. I just cut the end and refitted it

I also changed my ARB bushes as they were knackered.... that has improved the feel of the car a great deal. Plus is no longer clonks over speedbumps.... but as a downside my handbreak kn0b rattles now

Oh and then the wire in the drivers door attached to the internal handle broke on Tuesday when I got to work....

Not as bad as I thought from what you said, but looks a darn site cleaner.

Where was all the external oil coming from and glad you appear to have your turbo back after fixing that pipe :)

external oil seemed to be coming from the breather hole towards the top of the EGR - just under the vacuum unit in 2987

Looks good nice job makes me even more determined to do mine

It seemed to have a marked perfomance change for the car, so I am happy, plus finding the split vacuum hose.

I was able to do mine without replacing the gasket either (although I have bought a new one just incase). It can be a little bit difficuly getting the 3rd allen screw out of the bottom of the EGR, but you can flex the pipework enough to get an allen key in....
