The new Fabia HTP has an extra 6BHP and doesn't weigh anymore so it's a little bit quicker but you should go for a test drive when they're available. I don't suppose you'll like the 1.4 TDI much and this engine is a lot more expensive than the HTP and hardly chepaer than the 1.9.

What about the 1.6 petrol?

If you want a new Fab then the chepest diesel is the 70BHP 1.4TDI in "1" spec but even that is more expensive that the level 2 1.2HTP.
