Octavia II Disapointment

Featured Replies

Well at least it's running right now!

Yep...for now.

No way - it's religiously run on Shell V-Power.

I much prefer it with no seats, as it sounds a lot louder and it actually handles better IMO (like getting the back end out :D)

I'm in search of a "raw" experience which is why I very nearly defected to the Honda garage to buy a Civic Type R.

After speaking to 2 of the local Honda dealers a new Civic TypeR is as c**p as the old one! Still far too peaky and a pain in the *** to live with, unless your 17 and don't know any better! Give me loads of stonking torque over BHP any time.

After 12 months, absolutely no problems apart from the following:

Non-self-cancelling indicators - fixed at the first service by replacing the stalk, and:

Cick-clack from the climatrronic on both sides for a minute during early warm-up - aparently a well-known fault and supposedly sorted out throgh a software upgrade - still not cured but really not a major problem.

And for thoseof you in the South-East - all done very efficiently by Motorline Canterbury. And they rang me up the next day to ask about the service. So far, excellent!

I take my Fabia vRS to them and the level of service is great!!

I was thinking about getting a Octy vRS TDi so I'll keep looking at this thread with interest.

I was told that the judder is the DMF failing :(

I'd get it checked out as changing that isn't cheap and i dread to think on a DSG car :o

In 16,000 miles my Octavia 2-litre diesel Elegance Estate has needed a new mass air sensor (12,000 miles) and a fault has just been detected that shows a new turbo is required (though performance remains just as good as ever). Not an encouraging start to ownership, but as the car

I also forgot to add the car now judders around 1500 rpm on a light throttle in 4th. Not sure if it

Sounds like the very same problem i had but in 3rd, sure enough turned out to be the DMF - shame it took 6+ visits to the dealers an 20 odd thousand miles to finally trace and sort

Oh bugger

My statement when I was informed of this was not dissimilar and I'll post an update as soon as these things are sorted for me.

In the mean time I'm going to take a Toyota Auris 2.2 d-4-d T 180 out for a 2 day test drive courtesy of our local toyota dealer to investigate backup plans if the car isn't corrected to my satisfaction.

What I want to know is what on earth is wrong with a single mass flywheel of a greater mass and an stronger spring as opposed to bleeding DMFs?

This made very interesting reading from the DMF manufacturer and explains how a DMF works:
