Remote locking

Featured Replies

 Does anyone out there know if its possible to upgrade from basic central locking (key in the door) to remote central locking. I'm not getting much help from the dealers I've contacted so far.

What model and year?

Depending on your model and year, there are lots of options and answers in this forum.

Basically, you can do it all from the key including opening and closing windows, one/two press opening, blips from the car to confirm as well as flashing indicators.

With the correct car and a 'genuine' VAG-COM interface and software, the world is your lobster...

At least you will need a new conveinance ECU and the remotes.

So, for our April 2006 L&K what are we looking at? I'd guess a load of dosh for both ECU and remotes....

Also, would we get all the goodies of a facrory-spec mid2007 Octy 2?

As you are on this forum it suggests yours is an 'Octy II' - IIUC this means that all the locking options are available to you in the Central Convenience (46) coding area - I don't believe you need a new ECU, just someone who has the kit and wherewithal to re-code the above.

Thanks Mark, although it;s "JohnMorr" and indeed it's an Octy 2 (very happy with our current car after our equally excellent Octy 1). I'm in Canterbury - can you suggest someone herereabouts who can work their magic with the Skoda software?

The car is an OctyII classic with basic central locking 'safe'. It was supposed to have the factory alarm package which would have had remote locking. Skoda say that its not possible to retro fit the alarm pack so, I need to upgrade to remote locking to be able to install an aftermarket 'Thatcham Cat 1' alarm. Apparentlly the Octy II uses 'CAMBUS' technology (the way the ECU communicates) and the aftermarket remote locking kits aren't compatable with this. If someone could tell me the parts/system upgrade is available then I'd be so grateful

VRStu could be your man on this one. I'll PM him for you

Ask them to look at

BKA 609 001

BKA 609 002

BKA 609 101

um what are BKA 609......

Not saying they are suitable but it's a start.

 Cheers VRStu, I googled BKA 609 001 and got two sites that list the C/locking kits, only trouble is I can't translate whatever language they're in, interestingly one shows the kits on a 'Meta Systems'pdf (www.malarm.hr/metamalarm2005.pdf) but when you go to the Meta Systems UK site there are no listings for any of the kits, however this info may help the one dealer that has shown any interest in trying to assist.
