Been having a play for the last few weeks on a new boot install as the old one was a bit naff

Took pics as i went as we all like install pics

Ripped the CD changer out and wacked some sound deadening behing the carpet

Half a ton of tape later

then covered in tinfoil and more tape

2-3 layers of fiberglass drying

This stuff stnks in the car was about wasted when i drove to work the next day

Removed from the car spent aged removing all the foil and tape

kids do have there uses at least

and rough trimmed to size

Cut the front out of MDF and screwed to the fibreglass back

More fibreglass on the back and 3-4 more layres inside

Loads of sanding, Bodyfiller, more sanding and a lick of black paint before trimming in carpet

two sections of false floors painted black and trimmed in faux suede

with the amps mounted and power cables all braided

Forgot to take pictures of the floor lids but there painted black before carpeting and putting in Lexan windows (care of work )

all fitted

with the PC at the front

just need to put some sort of lighting begind the windows (probly those thin cathode lights)

and then to start on some front speakers

Neat installs - at least it leaves the boot still useable and you haven't got a loose sub box "missile" ready to brain you if the worst did happen.

A question please - where did you get the carpet from? It looks a very good match to the original.

Awesome looking install. Good job. Did you actually work out the volume of the fibreglass box, or did you just make it and whack the sub in? I'm always curious if people bother when using fibreglass, as I bet its a PITA to get a volume for!

It isn't that difficult.

As fibreglass is water tight - or should be, you can use water to find out the volume.

Most of the time, the basic size is half calculated, half a guestimate, then either filled with water or something like polystyrene balls to work out the true volume.

If it's too small then there is a bit of work to do, but too large and you can simply use lumps of wood or something similar to take up the volume.
