funky bluetooth issue

Featured Replies

Please help...

I have Octy II with 2.0 Lit. Petrol engine. I liked the car , the problem is :

the phone keeps disconnecting for few seconds from the car's bluetooth, and the it reconnect automatically, the is not only causing a stupid mute of my music, its also not convenient if I receive a call during the stupid disconnect time.

my phone is the I-mate JASJAM.

It might well be the phone, and not the car - is the phone running the latest firmware? My phone used to disconnect (and sometimes not reconnect) to my Bluetooth Handsfree unit, but a phone firmware update solved it...

thanks a lot Swing, I won't ask you how did you upgraded yours, its not the place to ask, but If you can kindly email me such info, I'll highly appreciate it. Thanks again.

firmware updates would be on the website for the company in question. you download a file onto the phone and execute it. nothing dodgy about it.

As my phone is not the latest generation of phones (it's an early 2006 model!) I needed to take it to my local Nokia Service Centre.

Unfortunately, they couldn't actually get the software upgrade to work, so it ended up going off to Nokia themselves for a few days.

Most phones nowadays (*) are either: upgrade via PC or upgrade via local service centre.

(*) ie phones from the major players in the mobile phone market - the others pretty much leave you on your own with no hope of help.

In your case, I know there are occasional ROM updates from I-mate / HTC / Microsoft, but I believe the majority of ROM updates are homebrew ROM updates available from the XDA Developers forum (which if you've never heard of, you probably need to Google and prepare to spend a few hours reading).

Which Nokia Swing?

Most are now on the Nokia updater to do yourself. If not, many approved Nokia Service centres can do the upgrade while you wait (takes around 30 minutes max)

thanks a lot Swing. you made my day.

Indeed, but not all phones, and the elder ones not already on there are unlikely to go onto it either, because the support is not in the hardware.

Indeed, and they tried their hardest, but it simply wouldn't work. Interestingly, 3 people took the same phone model to 3 different NSCs that week, and only 1 NSC managed to perform the upgrade without sending the phone back to Nokia!
